A Bat Mitzvah is a Jewish coming-of-age celebration marking a young woman's transition into adulthood. It is a deeply meaningful milestone and a moment when she steps into her own as a young adult, takes on new responsibilities, and is celebrated by her community. For Edie and our family, it is above all a joyful occasion to gather the people we love most.

Havdalah is a brief, beautiful Jewish ceremony that marks the end of Shabbat and the beginning of the new week. It involves blessings over wine, fragrant spices, and a braided candle, and is a warm and inclusive tradition that guests of all backgrounds are welcome to experience.

Late August in The Dalles and the Columbia River Gorge is warm and sunny, typically in the high 80s to mid-90s°F during the day, cooling off pleasantly in the evenings. It is almost always dry with clear skies. If you are planning to explore the Gorge or go hiking, bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. Our evening celebration is fully air-conditioned!

The Saturday evening celebration is an indoor, air-conditioned event at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum. Doors open at 5:30 PM with the opportunity to explore the museum's exhibits before cocktail service begins at 6:00 PM. The evening runs until approximately 10:30 PM.

Yes. If you are flying in, renting a car is strongly recommended and essentially a necessity. There are no rideshare services (Uber, Lyft, etc.) operating in the Columbia River Gorge area. The nearest major airport is Portland International (PDX), about 80 miles west. Book well in advance, especially for summer weekends.
